Dragons over Devils

CORTLAND, N.Y. -- Fredonia State ended its regular season with a 72-49 loss at Cortland.

The Devil's offense was paced by senior guard Melissa Howlett (Avon/Honeoye Falls-Lima), who finished with 18 points. She hit four of six three-pointers. Danielle Bleecker (Pittsford/Pittsford-Mendon) was the only other Devil in double-figures, finishing with 10 points.

Cortland, who claimed the regular-season championship with a 15-1 SUNYAC mark, was led by Sara Cavanaugh with 18 points. Maggie Byrne finished with 15. The duo also combined for nine three-pointers.

The Blue Devils (10-13, 6-10 SUNYAC) finish as the No. 7 seed in the SUNYAC. The top eight in the 11-team field earn post-season berths. They will travel to Brockport on Tuesday for a First Round game against the No. 2 seed Golden Eagles, who finished 13-3 in the conference.
