Estes, Crowley make SUNYAC All-Conference team

FREDONIA, N.Y. – Junior forward Katie Estes (Olean/Olean) and senior forward Clare Crowley (Buffalo/Mt. Mercy) have been named to the 2003-04 SUNYAC Women’s Basketball All-Conference team. Estes was a Second Team choice while Crowley made the Honorable Mention list.

The all-conference announcements were made Thursday during the SUNYAC Basketball Championship banquet at the Utica Holiday Inn.

During the 2003-04 season, Estes emerge as a Blue Devil starter following two seasons as a reserve. She was among the SUNYAC leaders in scoring (13.4, 6th), rebounding (7.6, 7th) and field-goal percentage (45.7 percent, 4th). She scored in double figures in 19 of 25 games, including a season-high game of 24 points vs. Russell Sage College, and had six games of double-digit points and double-digit rebounds.

Estes is a childhood education major.

Crowley closed out a four-year Fredonia State career with her second conference award (she was a Second Team selection as a junior). She averaged 9.8 points and 6.6 rebounds. In addition, she led the Blue Devils – and was 10th in the conference – in free-throw shooting (73.4 percent).

During her senior year, Crowley became the fifth Blue Devil since 1986-87 to surpass the 1,000-point mark. She finished with 1,133 points, fourth on the career list, and 594 rebounds, fifth best among Blue Devils since 1986-87.
