Mercy) and sophomore Karolyn Baker (Olean/Olean) had 13 points each as Fredonia State improved to 4-1 with a 60-56 home win over New Platz. Senior Amanda Neamon (Arcade/Pioneer) had 10 points and a team-high 10 rebounds for the Blue Devils (2-0 SUNYAC). Freshman Danielle Bleecker (Pittsford/Pittsford-Mendon) added nine points. Sophomore Sandra Gaszewski (Dobbs Ferry) and sophomore Kerri Kelty (Valley Stream) had 16 points each for the Hawks (2-3, 1-1). Gaszewski had 14 of her points in the second half. The Blue Devils led by as many as 14 points in the first half and were up 33-20 at halftime. New Paltz battled back to within two points down the stretch, the final time on a basket by Amber Sohns (Delhi) with :41 seconds remaining. The Hawks had a chance to tie following a steal by Kelty, but she subsequently turned the ball over. Ratchuk made two insurance free throws with 10 seconds remaining. Baker was 4 of 6 from three-point range before fouling out with just over two minutes remaining. She also had Blue Devil team highs in assists (4) and steals (3). Her replacement, freshman Maria Scaffidi (Buffalo/Holy Angels), came into the game for the first time and promptly made two clutch free throws after she was fouled dribbling at midcourt.
