Devils fall in Winter Classic opener

ERIE, Pa. – Fredonia State had its lowest offensive output of the season Friday for a 47-36 loss to Westminister, Pa., in the first round of the Winter Classic at Penn State Behrend.

Sophomore Jill Ratchuk (Buffalo/Mt. Mercy) had nine points while sophomore Karolyn Baker (Olean/Olean) and senior Amanda Neamon (Arcade/Pioneer) had eight points each for the Blue Devils (5-3).

The defensive struggle saw the Blue Devils shoot 27.1 percent (13 of 48) from the field to 30 percent (18 of 60) for the Titans (6-2).

Neamon had eight rebounds to lead the team while Ratchuk was credited with four steals.

The Blue Devils will face RIT in the tournament consolation game 1 p.m. Saturday.
