Weinberger tallies OT winner at Buffalo State

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Sophomore midfielder Jess Weinberger (Pittsford/Pittsford-Mendon) scored in the third minute of overtime to lift Fredonia State to a 2-1 SUNYAC road win over Buffalo State.

The victory set a school record for single-season conference wins by the Blue Devils (9-5-3, 6-3-1 SUNYAC).

Weinberger's goal, her second of the season, came on a shot from just inside the box following a pass from senior forward Jessica Weiser (Rochester/Greece Athena) at 92:09.

Sophomore defender Linsay Kulas (Rochester/Aquinas Institute) scored the first Fredonia State goal, her fifth of the season, at 33:38. Senior forward Jamie Pricola (Brockport/Brockport) was credited with an assist.

Freshman goalkeeper Becky Scroger (Spencerport/Spencerport) made one save.

Liz Jacobsen scored at 62:27 for the Bengals (7-7-2, 3-6-1 SUNYAC).

By virtue of winning, the Blue Devils are guaranteed either a No. 3 or No. 4 seed in the SUNYAC Tournament and a subsequent first-round home game Oct. 31.

They close out the regular season at home Oct. 29 vs. RIT.
