Women's Soccer

Eagles fly past Devils

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- A goal by freshman Jess Van Allen (East Chatham/Chatham) in the 61st minute gave Brockport State a 1-0 victory in SUNYAC women's soccer at the Brigham Road Field.

Van Allen juked a defender before kicking a goal into the top of the net from 15 yards out for the deciding score. It was her fifth goal of the season.

Fredonia State sophomore goalkeeper Becky Scroger (Spencerport/Spencerport) had four saves. Brockport junior goalkeeper Steph Kowell (Syracuse/Corcoran) had six saves for the shutout.

The loss dropped Fredonia State to 9-7-1 overall and 6-4 in the SUNYAC. The win improved Brockport to 13-2-1 overall and 9-1 in the SUNYAC.

The Devils close out their season at RIT on October 28, at 1 p.m. before heading into the SUNYAC Tournament.
