Devils close out regular season with 1-0 win

OBERLIN, Ohio -- Fredonia State closed out its regular season with a 1-0 win Saturday over Oberlin College.

Sophomore forward Lauren Heilweil (Binghamton/Chenango Forks) scored midway through the second half and freshman goalkeeper Molly Bojanek (Williamsville/Williamsville East) posted her first collegiate shutout as the Blue Devils improved to 8-7-3.

Heilweil scored after taking a pass from junior Kaelyn Puidokas (Rochester/Aquinas Institute). Playing in the midfield, Puidokas played a through ball near the center stripe and split two Oberlin defenders with a pass. Heilweil made a diagonal run to the ball and broke in on the Oberlin goalkeeper, beating her with a low shot. It was Heilweil's seventh goal of the season, tying her with senior Danielle Bleecker (Pittsford/Pittsford-Mendon) for the team lead.
