Devils turn back Oswego, 2-0

OSWEGO, N.Y. -- Fredonia State turned back stubborn Oswego with two second-half goals.

Freshman forward Lauren Heilweil (Binghamton/Chenango Forks) broke a scoreless tie with her fourth goal of the season in the 72nd minute. She connected on a rebound off a direct kick by junior midfielder Linsay Kulas (Rochester/Aquinas Institute).

Junior midfielder Jess Weinberger (Pittsford/Pittsford Mendon) added an insurance goal, her second of the season, in the 85th minute as the Blue Devils improved to 8-4-1 overall, 5-1-0 SUNYAC.

Sophomore goalkeeper Becky Scroger (Spencerport/Spencerport) was credited with five saves while posting her fourth shutout of the season.

The loss dropped upset-minded Oswego to 1-10-0 overall, 1-5-0 in the conference.

The Blue Devils are back in action 1 p.m. Saturday at Cortland.
