Devils roll to 8-0 win over Potsdam

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State solidified its playoff position with an 8-0 home SUNYAC win Saturday over Potsdam.

The Blue Devils improved to 8-4-2 overall and 4-2-0 in the SUNYAC, tied with two other teams for second place. The top six teams make the playoffs. The Blue Devils have three conference games remaining.

Sophomore defender Linsay Kulas (Rochester/Aquinas Institute) led the offensive onslaught vs. Potsdam with two goals and two assists.

Senior forward Jamie Pricola (Brockport/Brockport) added two goals, her third in two days. She scored the game-winning goal in overtime of a 1-0 win Friday over Plattsburgh.

Senior forward Danielle Rawcliffe (Rochester/Irondequoit) opened the scoring at 19:17 with an unassisted goal. The unassisted tally was the game-winner. Rawcliffe also had an assist in the game.

Also scoring goals for the Blue Devils were sophomore midfielder Janette Westman (Fairport/Fairport), senior midfielder Anita Salinas (Rochester/Greece Athena), and senior forward Jessica Weiser (Rochester/Greece Athena).

Freshman goalkeeper Becky Scroger (Spencerport/Spencerport) was called on to make one save for her fifth shutout of the season, and her third straight.

The Blue Devils outshot the Bears (0-11-2, 0-7-0) by a 30-4 margin and had a 12-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Fredonia State returns to action Oct. 14 at Brockport.
