Devils land first two all-region picks

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- A successful 2005 season earned Fredonia State its first two All-Northeast Region selections in program history.

Sophomores Danielle Bleecker (Pittsford/Pittsford-Mendon) and Linsday Kulas (Rochester/Aquinas Institute) were named Thursday to the 2005 National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Northeast Region Third Team.

It was the second honor of the week for both players. Bleecker, a defender, and Kulas, a midfielder, were chosen Tuesday as New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Association all-stars.

The Blue Devils posted an 11-7-4 record, including a 6-3-1 mark in the State University of New York Athletic Conference. The 11 wins is second most in school history, while the six conference wins set a new single-season school record.

Bleecker was a steady force at the defensive end and added two goals. Kulas was second on the team in scoring with five goals and 14 points.

"This is a great achievement for these players and our program," Fredonia State women's head coach Chris Case said. "Danielle and Linsay both had outstanding seasons for us and I am thrilled to see them receive this honor for their hard work.

"It is great for our team to see Fredonia represented among the top players in our region. Hopefully we will be able to build upon this next year and continue to bring quality players to Fredoina."
