Devils blanked by No. 6 Wheaton

WHEATON, Ill. -- Sixth-ranked and host Wheaton College trounced Fredonia State, 6-0, in the Blue Devils' season opener at the Bob Baptista Invitational.

The Blue Devils trailed 4-0 at halftime and were outshot 28-4 in the game. Sophomore goalkeeper Becky Scroger (Spencerport/Spencerport) made seven saves in 90 minutes of action.

Fredonia State returns to action when it meets DePauw -- 1-0 winners over Washington Univeristy (Mo.) in the other first round game -- at noon Saturday.
