Down 1-0 early in the second, the Blue Devils (3-2-0) mounted their comeback starting with a goal by freshman forward Lauren Heilwell (Binghamton/Chenango Forks) at 62:56. After receiving a pass on the left wing, Heilweil took a high shot which glanced off St. John Fisher freshman goalkeeper Ashley Martin (Macellus/Marcellus) and rolled over the line while several players from both teams converged in the box. It was Heilweil's second goal of the season. Junior midfielder Linsay Kulas (Rochester/Aquinas Institute) netted the game-winner, also her second of the season, at 85:43 with a shot from about 30 yards out. The wet ball -- by now a driving rain was falling -- glanced off the hands of Carlson. An insurance goal by freshman defender Dominique Rupert (Holley/Holley) came at 87:13. While the goal was scored as unassisted, it was set up on a long pass up the left sideline by junior midfielder Janette Westman (Fairport/Fairport). Rupert took one dribble to elude a defender and beat Carlson with a quick shot. The Cardinals (3-2-0) grabbed the lead at 62:56 when sophomore Kelly Zeppetella (Rochester/Greece Olympia) connected following a short run and cross by junior Dani Davis (Fulton/G. Ray Bodley). Otherwise, Fredonia State sophomore goalkeeper Becky Scroger (Spencerport/Spencerport) stopped seven of the eight Fisher shots on net. At the other end, Martin made three saves and senior Stacey Gable (Derby/Lake Shore), who started and played the first half for the Cardinals, also made three saves. The Blue Devils see their first SUNYAC action of the season Friday when they visit Plattsburgh, followed by a trip Saturday to Potsdam.
