Authors of just seven shots in the game, the Blue Devils (4-2-0, 1-0-0) made their opportunities count enroute a 2-1 win. Sophomore midfielder Jacki Borcyk (Rochester/Greece Odyssey) netted the first goal of the game at 33:15 when she booted a through ball into the left corner of the net. It was Borcyk's second goal this season. Freshman defender Dominique Rupert (Holley/Holley) assisted. Junior midfielder Aimee O'Neill (Jamestown/Jamestown) added an insurance goal at 81:48, assisted by freshman midfielder Lisa Curtis (Rochester/Greece Arcadia). It was the second goal scored by O'Neill in three seasons with the Blue Devils. As it turned out, the second goal was needed. Plattsburgh countered quickly, at 82:58, to cut the Fredonia State lead in half. But the Cardinals (4-1-1, 0-1-0), ranked No. 9 in the NCAA Northeast Region, were unable to put the equalizer behind sophomore goalkeeper Becky Scroger (Spencerport/Spencerport), who was credited with three saves. It was the fourth straight win for the Blue Devils, who'll continue their North Country trip with a meeting 1 p.m. Saturday at Potsdam.
