Blue Devils roll over Potsdam

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State completed its North Country sweep with a 2-0 SUNYAC win Saturday over Potsdam..

Goals by junior midfielder Jess Weinberger (Pittsford/Pittsford Mendon) and junior defender Danielle Bleecker (Pittsford/Pittsford Mendon) combined with a stingy defense carried the Blue Devils (5-2-0, 2-0-0 SUNYAC) to their first straight win..

Weinberger scored in the 39th minute while Bleecker added insurance in the 77th minute by converting a corner kick from junior midfielder Linsay Kulas (Rochester/Aquinas Institute).

Defensively, Fredonia State held the Bears (3-3-0, 0-2-0 SUNYAC) without a shot. As a result, sophomore goalkeeper Becky Scroger (Spencerport/Spencerport) was credited with her second shutout of the season without having to make a save.

The Blue Devils return to SUNYAC play Tuesday when they travel to Utica to face SUNYIT, their third of five straight road games.
