Late goal enables Devils to tie Elmira

ELMIRA, N.Y. -- A goal in the 87th minute enabled Fredonia State to rally for a 1-1 non-conference tie Thursday with Elmira College.

Freshman defender Dominique Rupert (Holley/Holley) scored with 3:20 remaining to erase a 1-0 Elmira lead which had stood from from the seventh minute on.

The teams played two scoreless 10-minute overtimes.

Fredonia State sophomore goalkeeper Becky Scroger (Spencerport/Spencerport) made three saves.

The tie ended the Blue Devils' winning streak of six staight games. They will take a seven-game unbeaten skein into their next game -- Tuesday night, Sept. 26, at Roberts Wesleyan.
