Weiser's game-winner sets school scoring record

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Jessica Weiser (Rochester/Greece Athena) became the leader in career points at Fredonia State with a goal and an assist Thursday in a 2-1 Blue Devil win over Roberts Wesleyan.

A senior forward, Weiser established the new school record -- currently at 63 points -- at 60:18 with a short shot from the goal box. Sophomore defender Linsay Kulas (Rochester/Aquinas Institute) assisted.

Kulas also had a three-point game. Her goal -- assisted by Weiser -- at 26:54 knotted the score at 1-1.

Aimee Legault (Point Clarke, Que.) put Roberts Wesleyan in the lead, 1-0, at 18:53.

The Blue Devils (4-3-2) had a 20-7 advantage in shots and a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Fredonia State freshman goalkeeper Becky Scroger (Spencerport/Spencerport) made five saves. Her counterpart, Marcey Furlow (Ashville), made six saves for the Raiders (2-4).

Weiser entered the season with 54 career points in 53 games and has added nine points in nine games this fall to overtake Jennifer Robinson as the all-time points leader. Robinson, a former teammate, recorded 61 points in 63 games from 1999 to 2002.

Earlier this season, Weiser became the all-time leader in goals at Fredonia State and now has 26 goals as a Blue Devil.

The Blue Devils meet SUNYIT in a SUNYAC home game 1 p.m. Saturday.
