Devils' 3-0 win over SUNYIT was a Schurr thing

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Erin Schurr (Hamburg/Hamburg) had one goal and one assist to lead Fredonia State to a 3-0 SUNYAC home win over the SUNYIT Wildcats.

Jessica Weiser (Rochester/Greece Athena) added to two career offensive records, while freshman defender Jacki Borcyk (Rochester/Greece Odyssey) recorded her first collegiate points with an insurance goal for the Blue Devils (5-3-2, 2-1-0 SUNYAC).

Freshman goalkeeper Becky Scroger (Spencerport/Spencerport) made two saves to earn her second shutout of the season.

Schurr, a senior midfielder, gave her team the early lead with her first goal of the season at 2:04, assisted by sophomore defender Linsay Kulas (Rochester/Aquinas Institute).

The Blue Devils held the narrow lead until Schurr set up Weiser for her team-leading fourth goal of the season at 47:14. For Weiser, a senior forward, the goal added to career school-record totals for goals (27) and points (65).

Borcyk's insurance tally came at 70:35 and was one of 18 shots by the Blue Devils. For the Wildcats (0-8-0, 0-5-0 SUNYAC), goalkeeper Laurel Hosmer was credited with seven saves.

Next game for Fredonia State is Fri., Sept. 30, at home against Cortland.
