Petraglia's three-bagger closes out Devils

FREDONIA, N.Y. – Sophomore forward Emily Petraglia (Delmar/Bethlehem) had three goals and one assist as Geneseo defeated Fredonia State, 4-2, in the SUNYAC.

Petraglia scored her teams first three goals and assisted sophomore midfielder Martha Brown (Marcellus/Marcellus) with an insurance goal.

The Fredonia State goals were scored by senior midfielder Katie Remus (Grand Island/Grand Island) and senior forward Jamie Pricola (Brockport/Brockport).

Pricola and sophomore midfielder Tracy Grimes (Rochester/Greece Olympia) each had an assist for the Blue Devils (7-7-2, 3-5-1).

Playing with the wind at its back, Geneseo took a 2-0 lead in the first half while Fredonia State had trouble mounting an attack. That changed in the second half when Remus drilled a hard 10-yarder past Geneseo freshman goalkeeper Dana Cummings (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) in the 49th minute. The goal cut the Blue Devil deficit to 2-1.

Petraglia answered with her third goal when, from a wide angle to the right of the goal, she curled a shot into the opposite top corner over Fredonia State senior goalkeeper Brianna Falvey (Chittenango/Chittenango).

Pricola's goal came in 67th minute when she tapped in a loose ball from near the left post. The Fredonia State comeback ended when Geneseo's Brown scored from close range with 13:31 remaining.

The Blue Knights (6-10-0, 4-4-0) had a 20-11 advantage in shots and a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.

Fredonia State closes out the SUNYAC portion of the schedule at home Oct. 20 vs. Buffalo State . Kickoff is 3 p.m.
