Devils downed by Oneonta

FREDONIA, N.Y. – No. 8 ranked Oneonta remained improved to 2-0 in SUNYAC play with a 3-1 victory over the Fredonia State Blue Devils.

Sophomore forward-midfielder Corinne Tisei (New Hyde Park) scored the first two goals for the Red Dragons (5-1-1 overall), the reigning NCAA Division III champs. Freshman forward Kirsten Clapper (Dryden) scored the third goal with 33 seconds remaining in the first half.

Although outshot 18-8, the Blue Devils (5-3-1, 1-1-0) had several good chances in the second half before beore cashing in. Freshman forward Linsay Kulas (Rochester/Aquinas Institute) scored her fourth goal of the season -- and third of the weekend -- with 1:42 to play.

Senior midfielder Katie Remus (Grand Island/Grand Island) was credited with an assist on the goal. It was her 49th career point -- fifth all-time among Blue Devil women. She entered the game tied for the fifth spot.

Oneonta junior goalkeeper Laura Morcone (Mechanicsville) made four saves in 78 minutes of duty. Fredonia State senior goalkeeper Brianna Falvey (Chittenango/Chittenango) was credited with six stops.

The Blue Devils are back in SUNYAC action Tuesday afternoon at SUNYIT.
