Women's Soccer

Blue Devils even SUNYAC record with 3-1 victory

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Fredonia State women's soccer team earned a 3-1 victory over SUNYAC rival Posdam Saturday afternoon. The Blue Devils improve to 7-5-2 (3-3-1), while Potsdam drops to 1-11-1 (0-7).

At the end of a closely fought first half, the score was tied 1-1. Fredonia State's Danielle Bleecker (Pittsford) made the game's first connection at 26:59. Jodi Ziemba retaliated for the Bears at 41:35 with an assist from Toni Blevins.

Erin Schurr (Hamburg) added the second-half game winner for the Blue Devils. Amy DeBarbieri (Portville) assisted. Jessica Weiser (Rochester) added Fredonia's third goal on a pass from Katie Remus (Grand Island). It was Weiser's eighth goal on the season.

Blue Devil goalkeeper Brianna Falvey (Chittenango) made two saves in the win, while Jordan Havens had 12 stops in suffering the loss.

The Blue Devils out shot Potsdam 17-3.

Fredonia State is home next weekend: Friday versus Brockport (3 p.m.) and Saturday versus Geneseo (1 p.m.).
