Devils roll over Brockport

BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Fredonia State improved to 5-2 in dual meets with a 170-67 victory over Brockport. Three Blue Devils were triple winners and freshman diver Kelly Sponholz (Alden/Alden) remained unbeaten this season.

Sophomore Lexi Chapman (Lockport/Lockport) recorded wins in the 200-yard freestyle, the 100-yard breaststroke, and as part of the 200-yard freestyle relay, which also included junior Cassie Austin (Cuba/Cuba-Rushford) and freshman Elizabeth Mirt (Rochester/Aquinas).

Austin and Mirt added wins in the 200-yard medley relay, while each woman won a third event individually: Austin the 50-yard freestyle, and Mirt the 200-yard individual medley.

Sponholz improved to 14-0 in dual meets and 16-0 in all competition with victories off the 1-meter and 3-meter diving boards. She will put both marks on the line Saturday when the Blue Devils entertain three other teams (Case Western, Ithaca, and University of Rochester) starting 1 p.m. Saturday at the Steele Hall Natatorium.
