![]() Sports Information Department – 112 Dods Hall CONTACT: Jerry Reilly, FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASESwimming & DivingDevil women outscore AlfredFREDONIA, N.Y. -- Freshman diver Kelly Sponholz (Alden/Alden) continued to set records and sophomore Lexie Chapman (Lockport/Lockport) and freshman Liz Mirt (Rochester/Aquinas) were triple winners in a 137-101 home win by the Fredonia State women over Alfred University. Sponholz broke her own school mark off the 1-meter board with a score of 229.70. She also won the 3-meter event with 222.75 points. Sophomore Teresa MacInnes (Tonawanda/Kenmore East) finish second with over 200 points off both boards. Chapman was a winner in the 1,000-yard freestyle, the 500-yard freestyle, and swam a leg on the winning 400-yard freestyle relay. Mirt triumphed in the 400-yard individual medley, the 100-yard freestyle, and the 200-yard medley relay. Other individual winners were junior Cassie Austin (Cuba/Cuba-Rushford) in the 50-yard freestyle, freshman Emily Dizer (Tonawanda/Sweet Home) in the 200-yard backstroke, and junior Ashley Vogl (Springville/Springville) in the 200-yard breast stroke. Austin, Dizer, and Vogl also were part of the winning 200-yard medley relay. The win avenged a six-point loss to the Alfred women last season. The Fredonia State men were defeated by Alfred, 161-50.
