Chapman wins back-to-back freestyle races

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Back-to-back wins by sophomore Lexie Chapman (Lockport/Lockport) highlighted Fredonia State's home meet loss Saturday to Edinboro University, an NCAA Division II team.

Chapman won the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:19.04), and came back in the very next event to win the 200-yard freestyle (2:02.93).

Also winning individual events were freshman Emily Dizer (Tonawanda/Sweet Home), freshman Liz Mirt (Rochester/Aquinas), and junior Cassie Austin (Cuba/Cuba-Rushford). Dizer won the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.32), Mirt the 200-yard individual medley (2:22.91), while Austin tied for first in the 50-yard freestyle (:26.11).

Edinboro won the meet by a team score of 138 1/2 to 122 1/2.

The Blue Devils return to action with a home meet Wed., Nov. 9 vs. Penn State Behrend.
