Sponholz sets two diving marks; MacInnes second
FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State women divers Kelly Sponholz (Alden/Alden) and Teresa MacInnes (Tonawanda/Kenmore East) finished first and second, respectively, off both boards during the Fredonia State Blue Devil Invitational.
Sponholz, a freshman, had a score of 361.35 points for 10 dives off the 1-meter board, and a 3-meter score of 384.55 for 11 dives. Both scores established new Fredonia State school records, breaking marks set last season by MacInnes.
MacInnes, a sophomore, had 321.85 points in the 1-meter competition and 331.80 points off the 3-meter board.
Also during the three-day meet, junior Cassie Austin (Cuba/Cuba-Rushford) tied for first place in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of :26.01. She was also a member of the school-record setting 200-yard freestyle relay quartet.
Austin, freshman Liz Mirt (Rochester/Aquinas), junior Ashley Vogl (Springville/Springville), and sophomore Lexie Chapman (Lockport/Lockport) touched out in 1:44.01.
The Blue Devil were third in the team scoring with 804 points. They trailed Oswego (1,243) and Nazareth (1,014) and finished ahead of Monroe Community College (450) and Alfred State (14).
