MANLIUS, N.Y. -- Fredonia State won two first-round matches over the weekend at the 2007 SUNYAC Women's Tennis Championships.

No. 1 singles player Brittany Pagano (Silver Creek/Nequa Valley, Ill.) earned one team point for the Blue Devils with a 6-1, 6-3 victory Friday over Plattsburgh's Sarahjean Marhone. Pagano, a senior playing in her final collegiate competition, was eliminated Saturday by No. 1 seed and eventual champ Dana Lim of New Paltz.

Also earning one point Friday was the No. 3 doubles team of Elise Daigler (North Tonawanda) and Sierra Summerville (Mexico). Both juniors, Daigler and Summerville ousted the Plattsburgh duo of Danielle Circelli and Sumie Takamitsu, 6-3 and 6-1. On Saturday, Daigler and Summerville put up a fight before falling to a Brockport pair by scores of 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

Summerville also performed well Friday in No. 3 singles competition. She extended Cortland's Dayne Brent before falling 7-5, 4-6, 7-5.
