Daigler, Summerville double winners

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- At the SUNYAC Championships at The Eastside Racquet Club in Syracues, Elise Daigler (North Tonawanda/North Tonawanda) advanced in the first round of the Third Singles and Sierra Summerville (Mexico/Mexico) advanced in the Fourth Singles. They then teamed up to advance in the Second Doubles.

Daigler defeated Dana Kuroski of Oneonta 6-1 and 7-5. Summerville defeated Plattsburgh's Ashley Smith 7-6(6) and 6-4. The duo then defeated the Brockport tandem of Chelsea Fletcher and Erin McLaughlin 6-2 and 6-4.

Ellen Engle (North Tonawanda/North Tonawanda) and Amy Sacca (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) were the other Devils with victories on Friday. They earned a win in the Third Doubles, 6-4 and 6-4, over Potsdam's Jennifer Burke and Jessica Castaneda.

Brittany Pagano (Silver Creek/Nequa Valley, Ill.) received a bye in First Singles and automatically advances. Marie Holla (Wellsville/Wellsville) and Pagano also received a bye in First Doubles.

Holla dropped her Second Singles match 6-1, 6-3; Sarah Yates (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) fell in Fifth Singles, 7-5, 6-4; and Megan Zarzycki (Rochester/Irondequoit) was turned away in Sixth Singles, 6-2, 6-2.

Doubles -- 1st: Pagano/Holla, bye; 2nd: Daigler/Summerville d. Fletcher/McLaughlin (BROCKPORT), 6-2, 6-4; 3rd: Ellen Engel/Amy Sacca d. Burke/Castaneda (POTSDAM), 6-4, 6-4.
