Devils down Alfred

ALFRED, N.Y. -- Fredonia State defeated Alfred University, 6-3, for the first time in head coach Joe Calarco's six-year tenure.

Singles winners for the Blue Devils (2-5) were junior Amy Sacca (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs), sophomores Elise Daigler (North Tonawanda/North Tonawanda) and Sierra Summerville (Mexico/Mexico), and freshman Megan Zarzycki (Rochester/Irondequoit). Zarzycki improved to 5-0 in singles competition this season.

Daigler teamed with Summerville, and Sacca with senior Ellen Engel (Rochester/Irondequoit) for doubles wins.

Emma Lewis, 6-2, 6-4; 5th: Amy Sacca (F) d. Colleen Donahue, 6-2, 7-5; 6th: Megan Zarzycki (F) d. Irene Brown, 6-2, 6-2.
Doubles -- 1st: Calfee/Woods (A) d. Pagano/Holla, 8-1; 2nd: Daigler/Summerville (F) d. Drooz/Lewis, 9-8 (7-3); 3rd: Ellen Engel/Sacca (F) d. Kelly Cali/Donahue, 8-0.
