It was the team's first shutout ever. Brittany Pagano (Silver Creek/Nequa Valley, Ill.), Sierra Summerville (Mexico/Mexico) and Elise Daigler (North Tonawanda/North Tonawanda) each won thier singles matches in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Daigler improved her individual record to 6-0 this season, while Summerville is 7-1 overall. The duo of Pagano and Marie Holla (Wellsville/Wellsville) won their doubles match 8-0. Other singles winners for the Blue Devils were Holla, Ellen Engel (Rochester/Irondequoit) and Rachel LaPaglia (Fredonia/Fredonia). LaPaglia played well in a tight set, winning the first set in a tie-breaker, 7-6. She followed that with a 6-2 advantage in sets to claim the final singles match and complete the shutout. Amy Sacca (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) also contributed to the win, combining with Engel to win her doubles match. "It was good for the team to be successful," said head coach Joe Calarco. "It's been a long time coming. Now we have to continue this way of winning."
