Freshmen account for scoring in loss to Geneseo

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State dropped its first tennis match of the season, 6-3, to Geneseo on the Steele Hall courts.

A pair of freshmen, Sierra Summerville (Mexico/Mexico) and Elise Daigler (North Tonawanda/North Tonawanda), accounted for all three Blue Devil points. Summerville won her No. 5 singles match, 6-4 and 6-2, and Daigler prevailed at No. 6 singles, 6-3 and 6-2. Together, they teamed for a victory at No. 3 doubles, 8-3.

Despite the setback, head coach Joe Calarco was pleased with his team's performance. "That was," he said, "our best outing against Geneseo in recent years."

Next match for the Blue Devils is Sept. 7 at St. John Fisher.
