Freshman Brittany Pagano (Silver Creek/Nequa Valley, Ill.) was a double winner and freshman Rachel LaPaglia (Fredonia/Fredonia) scored her first collegiate varsity win. Pagano improved to 4-2 is singles competition with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-0 third-singles victory, then combined with freshman Marie Holla (Wellsville/Wellsville) for an 8-2 win in second doubles. LaPaglia earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory in sixth singles. In addition, sophomore Ellen Engel (Rochester/Irondequoit) extended her opponent to three sets before falling in second singles. The match was the third of the season between the two teams and resulted in the closest outcome of the three. The results: Penn State Behrend 6, Fredonia State 3 -- Singles: Mindy Calvert (P) d.
