Women's Track and Field

Field athletes do their share at SUNYAC meet

GENEVA, N.Y. -- Field athletes accounted for a large share of points scored by the Fredonia State women at the SUNYAC Championship Meet.

Freshman thrower Julia Hopson (Poughkeepsie/Arlington) finished third in the shot put (11.34 meters) and fourth in the 20-pound weight throw (13.96 meters).

Senior jumper Liz Schaller (Marilla/St. Mary's) was fourth in the triple jump (10.90 meters) and seventh in the long jump (5.03 meters).

In addition, freshman Jessica Tucker (Bloomburg/Pine Bush) was sixth in the hugh jump (1.53 meters).

The top performances by an individual woman runner was the sixth-place finish in the 800 meters by junior Rachel McNamara (Lakeview/Nardin) of 2:33.93.

Also, senior Krista Morse (Freedom/Pioneer) was sixth in the 55-meter high hurdles (9.13 seconds), junior Stephanie Milks (Binghamton/Chenango Forks) was seventh in the 400 meters (1:02.53), sophomore Nicole Smith (Amherst/Amherst) was eighth in the 400 (1:03.01), and freshman Trisha Ippolito (Angola/Lake Shore) was eighth in the 1,000 meters in a personal-best 3:13.69.

Fredonia State was also fourth in the 4-by-400 meter relay (season-best 4:11.22) and fifth in the distance medley relay (14:31.86).

The Blue Devils finished sixth in the team standings.
