Galvin, Schaller are provisional qualifiers

FREDONIA, N.Y. – Senior thrower Jennifer Galvin (Pompey/Fabius-Pompey) and junior jumper Elizabeth Schaller (Marilla/St. Mary's) earned NCAA provisional qualifying status during the Fredonia State Early Open at Steele Hall.

Each woman was also a double winner, while sophomore Erin Ross (Amherst/Amherst) set a school and meet record in the pole vault.

Galvin earned her NCAA provisional status in the women's weight throw with a toss measured at 48 feet, 8 3/4 inches. It was also a meet record. In addition, she won the shot put with a toss of 37 feet, 5 inches.

Schaller shined in the triple jump when she soared 36 feet, 8 1/2 inches on her sixth and final attempt. She also high jumped 4 feet, 10 1/4 inches to join two teammates at the winning height.

Ross cleared the pole vault bar set at 10 feet to break her own school record in the event. It enabled her to win the event.
