Galvin defeats large field in the shot

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Jennifer Galvin (Pompey/Fabius-Pompey) defeated 36 other competitors in the shot put during the University of Rochester Alumni Meet at Fauver Stadium.

Galvin's throw of 37.76 feet is third longest outdoors in school history. She also finished third in the hammerthrow with a distance of 138.8 feet.

Elizabeth Schaller (Marilla/St. Mary's) also had two top-five finishes in the meet -- the long jump and the triple jump.

Stephanie Milks (Binghamton/Chenango Forks) was second in the 400 meters, Meredith Schichtel (Frontier/Hamburg) third in the javelin, Sarah Hite (Avon/Geneseo) fourth in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles, and Krista Morse (Freedom/Pioneer) fifth in the 100-meter high hurdles.
