Cross Country

Devils fifth in Atlantic Region

CASTILE, N.Y. -- Fredonia State finished fifth of 30 full teams competing Saturday at the NCAA Atlantic Regional women's cross country meet.

Geneseo won the meet with 46 points, followed by College of New Jersey with 80, Ithaca with 103, Plattsburgh with 201, and the Blue Devils with 205.

Senior Rachel McNamara (Lakeview/Nardin) finished 20th overall to lead the Blue Devils. She was clocked in 23:20.5 over the 6,000-meter course at Letchworth State Park.

Fredonia State's second finisher, and 26th overall, was freshman Jessica Bennett (Rochester/West Irondequoit) in 23:34.4.

Next was senior Aimee Milks (Binghamton/Chenango Forks) in 39th place in 24:03.8, junior Samantha Ellwood (Hamburg/Hamburg) in 51st at 24:23.9, and senior Ashley Tramp (Buffalo/Kenmore East) in 69th at 24:50.1.

Also participating for Fredonia State were sophomore Trisha Ippolito (Angola/Lake Shore) and junior Kristen Rohne (Queensbury/Queensbury). Ippolito was 71st in 24:53.3, while Rohne was 149th in 26:49.9.
