In the men's meet, the Blue Devils were third. The Fredonia State women scored 20 points, Nazareth was second with 39, followed by the University of Rochester with 100 points. Five of the first eight women were from Fredonia -- including the first three. Freshman Jessica Bennett (Rochester/West Irondequoit) won the 4,000-meter race in 15:14. In second place, senior Rachel McNamara (Lakeview/Nardin) had a time of 15:52, while senior Aimee Milks (Binghamton/Chenango Forks) was third in 16:59. Sophomore Trisha Ippolito (Angola/Lake Shore) came in sixth in 16:29 and junior Samantha Ellwood (Hamburg/Hamburg) was eighth with a time of 16:59. In the men's race, the Blue Devils had 60 points -- 18 behind Oswego and 15 behind Nazareth. For Fredonia, freshman Jared Newell (Queensbury/Queensbury) was fifth overall with a time of 21:44 in the 6K. Next was freshman Tom Williams (Queensbury/Queensbury) in 21:44 for ninth, just ahead of senior Kevin Buzzelli (Grand Island/Grand Island), who was 10th in 21:48. The next meet for both the men's and the women's cross country will be October 21 at Buffalo for the SUNYAC Championship.
