Geneseo took first place with a score of 35 points while Ithaca was second with 62. They were followed by Rochester Institute of Technology (141), St. Lawrence (142), and the Blue Devils (150). In the women's 5k, freshman Jessica Bennett (Rochester/West Irondequoit) placed 10th out of 153 with a time of 19:20. Blue Devil senior Rachel McNamara (Lakeview/Nardin) was 21st in 19:44. Rounding out the top five were senior Aimee Milks (Binghamton/Chenango Forks) in 31st place (20:07), junior Samantha Ellwood (Hamburg/Hamburg) in 45th (20:24), and sophomore Trisha Ippolito (Angola/Lake Shore) 47th (20:27). By virtue of their placement in the race, Bennett and McNamara received all-state recognition: Bennett on the Second Team, McNamara as an honorable mention. In the men's 8,000-meter race, the Fredonia State men were in 12th place out of 16 teams with a score of 291 points. Senior Kevin Buzzelli (Grand Island/Grand Island) finished 29th overall in 26:42, followed by freshman Tom Williams (Queensbury/Queensbury) in 40th (26:52), freshman Jared Newell (Queensbury/Queensbury) 69th (27:29), senior Jason Smith 79th (27:45), and sophomore Matthew Wysocki 111th (29:09). Both teams will compete Nov. 11 at the NCAA Atlantic Regional, hosted by Geneseo.
