Williams cross the finish line in 25:34 over a course measured at 7,825 meters. He was first collegiate runner to finish and second only to an unattached runner. Also scoring for Fredonia State were senior Andy Forma (Elma/St. Francis; 26:08), freshman Josh Guarino (Bergen/Byron-Bergen; 26:11), freshman Vincent Granata (Fredonia/Fallbrook; 26:14), and junior Chris Walters (Tonawanda/Sweet Home; 26:48). In the women's race, Alfred emerged with a 24-37 victory. For Fredonia State, sophomore Jessica Bennett (Rochester/West Irondequoit) was second overall in 20:08 for 5,000 meters. She was five seconds behind Alfred's McKenzie Clemens, an NCAA qualifier in 2006. Rounding out Fredonia State's top five were senior Samantha Ellwood (Hamburg; 20:44), junior Trisha Ippolito (Angola/Lake Shore; 20:56), freshman Rachel Fox (Johnson City; 22:15), and freshman Melinda Houle (Rochester/Greece Athena; 22:49). Next meet for Fredonia State is Saturday at the Edinboro Rag Relays.
