Men's & Women's Cross Country
Women 2nd as team; Pond 2nd overall
PORTLAND, N.Y. -- The Fredonia state women were second of six teams entered at the Fredonia State Invitational.
Meanwhile, sophomore Mike Pond (Somers/Somers) was second in the men's race, one spot ahead of freshman teammate Andy Forma (Elma/St. Francis).
Pond covered the wet 8,000-meter Lake Erie State Park Course in 27:32. Forma was timed in 27:41. Geneseo's Dan Moore won the race in 27:10.
The Blue Devil men were fourth in the team scoring.
Fredonia State junior Ashley Tramp (Buffalo/Kenmore East) was fifth in the women's race in 20:08 for 5,000 meters. Next closest among her teammates was junior Aimee Milks (Binghamton/Chenango Forks), 14th overall in 20:44.
Karen Merrill of Geneseo won the women's race in 18:55.
The Geneseo men and women won both team titles.
