Cross Country

Women, men place sixth

LETCHWORTH, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women and men both turned in sixth place finishes at the Geneseo Cross Country Invitational at Letchworth State Park on Saturday.

For the women, their sixth place finish came in a field of twelve. Senior Samantha Ellwood (Hamburg) was the top Blue Devil in the 6K race, placing 25th in a time of 23:57. Sophomore Jessica Bennett (Rochester/West Irondequoit) turned in a mark of 24:29, while junior Trisha Ippolito (Angola/Lake Shore) had a personal best of 24:38.

The men finished sixth in a field of fifteen. They were paced by Tom Williams (Queensbury) who finished 18th in a personal best time of 26:28. Vinny Granata (Fallbrook, Conn.) was 34th in a time of 27:07. Chris Walters (Tonawanda/Sweet Home) turned in a personal best of 27:24 for the Blue Devils.

Both teams are back in action Saturday at the Nazareth Invitational.
