The Blue Devils were 20th of 36 teams in the race, run over the 8,000-meter St. Lawrence University Hoffman course. Sophomore Jason Smith (Queensbury/Queensbury) and sophomore Kevin Buzzelli (Grand Island/Grand Island) were Fredonia State's top two finishers. Each had a personal-best time -- Smith in 27:21.2, Buzzelli in 27:27.2. Rounding out Fredonia State's top five were senior Chris Mills (Auburn/Auburn) in 27:32.6, junior Jerome Evans (Rochester/Greece Olympia) in 27:38.4, and junior David Mink (Rensselaer/Columbia) in 28:07.7. Freshman Robert Miller (Islip/Central Islip) was sixth for the Devils in 29:05.2, while senior Chris Johnson (Silver Creek/Silver Creek) was seventh in a lifetime-best 29:22.4. It was Johnson's final collegiate competition since he is eligible to graduate in December. The Blue Devils were without No. 1 runner freshman Michael Pond (Somers/Somers), who missed the race because of an academic commitment.
