Cross Country

Devils 11th at state meet

GENESEO, N.Y. -- The Fredonia state men were 11th of 15 teams Saturday in the New York State Collegiate Track and Field cross country championship meet.

Freshman Michael Pond (Somers/Somers) led the Blue Devils --- he was 26th overall --- with a 27:11 clocking over the 8,000-meter Letchworth State Park course. It tied his personal-best time of the season for the distance.

Sophomore Kevin Buzzelli (Grand Island/Grand Island) was second-best for the Blue Devils. The top five was rounded out by junior David Mink (Rensselaer/Columbia), junior Jerome Evans (Rochester/Greece Olympia), and sophomore Jason Smith (Queensbury/Queensbury).

The Blue Devils have one more meet on the schedule, the NCAA Atlantic Regional at St. Lawrence University next Saturday, Nov. 13.
