Led by senior enior Morgan Burrows (Lockwood/Waverly), the Blue Devils were fourth out of 16 teams at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference cross country championship. Burrows was clocked in 19:18 for 5,000 meters --- 13th overall in a race won by Geneseo. St. Lawrence was second and Ithaca third. Sophomore Rachel McNamara (Lakeview/Nardin) was 23rd in 19:33, senior Dani Pendl (Patchogue/Patchogue-Medford) 25th in 19:37, junior Kristen Veltz (Brockport/Brockport) 27th in 19:40, and freshman Samantha Ellwood (Hamburg/Hamburg) 41st in 20:03. "That pack ran pretty well," first-year coach Nolan Swanson said. "That's why we've been beating these teams." The Blue Devils finished second to Geneseo at the SUNYAC meet held Oct. 23 at Brockport. It was the best finish ever by the Blue Devils since SUNYAC began contesting a women's cross country championship in 1983.
