Early registration begins for Cheerleading ClassicTeams planning on participating in the 2008 Fredonia State Cheerleading Classic can register now. Open to school and youth teams, the Cheerleading Classic will be held Sunday, January 27, 2008, inside the Steele Hall Fieldhouse. The Fredonia State cheerleaders will also perform. How to make the Fredonia State teamTryouts are held each spring for enrolled students. In addition, high school students are encouraged to send a tryout video tape and three letters of reference to Coach Pucci-Schaefer. Donation made to Breast Cancer FoundationThe Fredonia State cheerleaders hosted 115 teams at their annual competition held on Sunday, January 28, 2007. The event raised $1,500 to benefit the American Cancer Society's "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Foundation." The Blue Devil cheerleaders would like to thank all of the teams for making this year's event another success.
Devils ninth at 2007 UCA nationalsThe Fredonia State cheerleading team competed in the Universal Cheerleaders Association Nationals on January 13, 2007, at Disney Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla. The Blue Devils were the lone NCAA Division III team competing in the All Girl II division. The team finished ninth in the division. Click here for more: UCA College Nationals All Girl II results. |

The Fredonia State cheerleaders finished fifth at the Universal Cheerleaders Association College Nationals at Disney's Wide World of Sports, held Jan. 19 at Orlando, Fla. The Blue Devils, competing in the All Girls Division II category, performed twice during the competition, first to make it into the final eight, and then during finals. Video links to their performances are available on the www.varsity.com website. The University of West Georgia won the event, followed by Southern Connecticut State, Fairmont State, the College of New Jersey, Fredonia State, Concord, Scranton, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Misercordia, and Avila. Each team wasjudged on crowd-leading ability, practicality, difficulty and execution, partner stunts, pyramids, baskets tosses, tumbling, and overall presentation. The Blue Devils entered the competition Saturday with a perfect score of 15 crowd-score points after judges looked at submitted videotapes of all the team leading cheers at their respective schools.
