The State University of New York Athletic Conference's recently released list of top student-athletes included 95 Fredonia State winter and spring team members.

Heather RobinROBIN EARNS CHANCELLOR'S AWARD
Fredonia State senior springboard diver Heather Robin is one of seven SUNYAC student-athletes to receive Chancellor's Awards for the 2009-10 winter season.The awards are given annually in each sport to a first or second All-Conference Team member with the highest grade-point average of 3.3 or better. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least three semesters completed.

Fredonia State freshman diver Sarah Ficarro has qualified for the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving championships later this month. She's the third Blue Devil diver to make the national meet during head coach Arthur Wang's tenure.

MEN, WOMEN MOVE UP A NOTCH
Both the men and women finished in fourth place at the SUNYAC meet, up from fifth a year ago. The women broke four school records and earned the Diver of the Meet award. For the men, Mike Mitchell set a new 200-yard breast stroke team record. Links: RESULTS

Julianna Walker claimed a SUNYAC championship in the 100-yard butterfly at the SUNYAC swimming & diving championships on Friday. The men and women are now in fourth place overall.

FICARRO, TORRES CITED BY SUNYAC
A pair of Fredonia State divers -- freshman Sarah Ficarro and senior Christian Torres -- have been recognized by the State University of New York Athletic Conference for their efforts in two competitions last weekend. DEVILS RECORD MORE NCAA QUALIFYING SCORES
The Blue Devil divers traveled to Ithaca for the Bomber Invite on Sunday. Christian Torres set a pair of Blue Devil records and had a pair of NCAA qualifying scores for the men. Freshman Sarah Ficarro had two victories and a NCAA provisional score for the women.

DEVILS READY FOR CONFERENCE MEET AFTER 4-TEAM INVITE
The swimming and diving teams played host to Cortland, Oneonta and Hartwick on Saturday. Diver Christian Torres was a double winner, with a pair of NCAA qualifying scores and a pool record. For the women, Sarah Ficarro was a winner off both the 1- and 3-meter boards.

MEN WIN AGAIN, WOMEN TOPPED
The Fredonia State men's swimming and diving team won its second straight dual meet, a 149-87 home victory over Nazareth. Meanwhile, the Blue Devil women were defeated 136-106 in an effort that was impressive despite the outcome.

Hard work during a recent Florida training trip appears to be paying off as the Blue Devil men and women defeated Brockport in a dual meet Saturday afternoon.

A school record by Mike Seay and double wins off both diving boards were the highlights of Fredonia State's return to competition Friday, a three-team meet Friday at the Steele Hall Natatorium with Edinboro University and the Ithaca College women.

The Fredonia State women won their own Blue Devil Invite on Sunday. They out-pointed Oswego by over 200 points. The men finished fourth at the  10-team event. At right is Juliana Walker, who finished second on the 100-yard butterfly on Sunday.

Fredonia State won the women's 400-yard medley relay on the first day of the sixth annual Blue Devil Invitational at the Steele Hall Natatorium.

WOMEN EDGED BY ALLEGHENY 
Fredonia State was unable to mount a late charge Saturday and fell to Allegheny, 155-145, in the women's swimming and diving at the Steele Hall Natatorium. Two freshmen excelled for the Blue Devil women. The Fredonia State men were also defeated in the final meet before Thanksgiving break.

The Fredonia State women were winners over Alfred, while the Blue Devil men were defeated Friday inside the Steele Hall Natatorium.

DEVILS RAISE AWARENESS
The Fredonia State swimming and diving teams joined approximately 5,900 athletes from 119 college, high school, and club teams across the nation—as well as students-abroad teams—to participate in the Hour of Power on Tuesday, honoring those who are fighting or have succumbed to cancer. The event, begun in 2006, was sponsored by Carleton College.

Both the Fredonia State men and women closed the gap vs. last year's SUNYAC Champion Geneseo in Steele Hall on Saturday. Morgan Reisch, left, and Juliana Walker were triple winners. For the men, Christian Torres and Mike Seay were double winners.

The Fredonia State women were 166-134 winners while the men fell 178-120 Saturday afternoon to Rochester Institute of Technology.

The Devils opened the season vs. Division I Niagara University. Mike Seay, Christain Torres, Sarah Ficcarro and Juliana Walker each were victorious in two events each, while freshman Stephanie Andrasek broke a school mark in her first collegiate meet.
