2003-04 INDOOR HIGHLIGHTS

DEVILS COMPETE AT BALDWIN WALLACE
Liz Schaller won the triple jump and the long jump Friday night at Baldwin Wallace's Sparky Adams Invitational.

Schaller also ran with Rachel McNamara, Aimee Milks and Stephanie Milks on the winning 4-by-400 relay team (4:15.30), and was tied for third with Sarah Chinnock in the high jump (4-10).

Other Fredonia State individual winners were Krista Morse (55-meter hurdles, 9.29), Stephanie Milks (500 meters, 1:22.99) and Jennifer Galvin (weight throw, 43-4 1/4).

McNamara was second in the 400 meters (1:01.93) and third in the 300 meters (44.46), Galvin second in the shot put (37-7 1/4), while Stephanie Milks (300 meters, 45.58) and Kristen Veltz (5,000 meters, 19:07.73) had fourth-place finishes.


Feb. 6, Phillips Invitational
Fredonia State defeated Penn State Behrend and Alfred University at the Mary Phillips Invitational held at Steele Hall. Liz Schaller posted wins in the 200 meters (27.84) and the long jump (5.22 meters). She was also second in the high jump and second the triple jump. Krista Morse won the 55 meters (8.01) and the 55-meter hurdles (9.43), while Jennifer Galvin took the shot put (9.94 meters) and the weight throw (13.11 meters). Rachel McNamara (400 meters, 1:02.54) and Erin Ross (pole vault, 2.74 meters) won one event each while the quartet of McNamara, Aimee Milks, Stephanie Milks and Alex Baisley combined to win the 4x400-meter relay (4:16.46).

Jan. 31, Spartan Relays
Fredonia State’s Rachel McNamara was a double winner Saturday at the Case Western Reserve Spartan Relays. McNamara, a freshman, won the 200-meter and 400-meter runs to highlight the day for Blue Devil athletes. Among other Fredonia State women, freshman Erin Ross pole vaulted nine feet to break her own indoor school record; sophomore Kristen Veltz was second in the 5,000 meters; and junior Jennifer Galvin second in the weight throw. Third-place finishes were turned in by sophomore Elizabeth Schaller in the long jump and the triple jump; junior Krista Morse in the 55-meter hurdles; and freshman Stephanie Milks in the 800 meters.

Jan. 24, Fredonia Early Open
Fredonia State freshman Erin Ross set a school record in the pole vault Saturday at the Fredonia Early Open in the Steele Hall Fieldhouse. Ross cleared the bar at 8 feet, 6 inches. That bettered by six inches Hilary Hulse's 8-0. Sarah Chinnock finished second in the high jump (4-10 1/4), Elizabeth Schaller was third in the the 200 meters (28.32) and the triple jump (33-7 1/2), Rachel McNamara was third in the 400 meters (1:03.33), Krista Morse third in the 55-meter hurdles (9.61), and Jennifer Galvin third in the women's weight throw (40-7 1/2).

Dec. 6-7, Golden Flash Gala
Fredonia State shot putter Jennifer Galvin qualified for the New York State Collegiate Track Conference and the State University of New York Athletic Conference meets later this season with her 10.86-meter put at the Kent State Golden Flash Gala. She also qualified for the SUNYAC meet in the women's weight throw. Dani Pendl finished seventh of 16 runners in the 3,000-meter run and earned a place in the SUNYAC meet. Pendl also qualified for SUNYACs in the 5,000-meter run with a ninth-place finish. Other Blue Devils with SUNYAC qualifying performances at Kent State were Krista Morse (60-meter hurdles), Alexis Baisley (400 meters), Elizabeth Schaller (200 meters, long jump, triple jump), Stephanie Milks (400 meters, 200 meters), Rachel McNamara (400 meters), Sarah Chinnock (high jump), Ashley Tramp (3,000 meters; 5,000 meters), Amanda Dron (5,000 meters) and Melissa Sweazey (60-meter hurdles).
