Ms. Patricia Astry
Assistant Professor and Director of Medical Technology

Patricia S. Astry, M.S., MT(ASCP) - Professor Astry is a nationally certified medical technologist with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, possessing a B.S. in Medical Technology, and an M.S. in Medical Technology Education and Administration. Prior to her graduate work, Mrs. Astry worked as a medical technologist at several hospital laboratories in NYS. In addition to directing the Medical Technology Program at Fredonia, Professor Astry teaches undergraduate level courses in the areas of microbiology, immunology, hematology, AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Diseases. Her primary research interest focuses on sexually transmitted disease education. She has directed statewide and regional conferences on AIDS, performed research assessing risk of sexually transmitted disease on college campuses, and has been an invited speaker to many schools, community and professional organizations. Professor Astry is also the chairperson of the campus AIDS and Sexuality Committee.
