Honors and Awards

 

John Olsavsky presents the Financial Executive Institute Award to Kristin Barrett Students who excel in their studies are eligible for recognition through membership in the campus chapters of Delta Mu Delta, a national honor society in business administration, and the Financial Management Association National Honor Society. Initiation is competitive and highly selective.

In addition to the honor societies mentioned above, individual students can be recognized for outstanding scholastic and extra-curricular achievements through several departmentally sponsored Awards and Scholarships. Each year the faculty nominates worthy students for:

  • Mourris R. Poummit Achievement Scholarship (Criteria: Any departmental major, graduating senior, and highest overall GPA);
  • Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award (Criteria:  Any departmental major, graduating senior, and strong record of academic and extra-curricular achievements);
  • New York State Society of CPA'a John T. Kennedy Memorial Award (Criteria:  Junior, Accounting Major, and highest overall GPA);
  • New York State Society of CPA's Accounting Senior Award (Criteria:  Graduating Accounting Senior with highest GPA in accounting, considered to be a desirable candidate for admission to the profession of Public accounting);
  • Donald C. Brandt Memorial Scholarship (Criteria:  Any departmental major, sophomore, high overall GPA, and rich record of extra-curricular accomplishments);
  • Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Business Achievement Scholarship (Criteria:  Any major, must have completed two SIFE projects, high overall GPA, and recommendation of SIFE advisor);
  • Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Music Business Achievement Scholarship (Criteria:  Music Business Major, must have completed two SIFE projects, high overall GPA, and recommendation of SIFE advisor);
  • Dr. James Hurtgen Scholarship (Criteria:  Any Major, Junior/Senior, outstanding scholastic and extra-curricular achievements, and engaged in an internship dealing with environmental conservation)
  • Alumni Junior Achievement Scholarship (Criteria:  Any departmental major, junior, at least 3 semesters at Fredonia, and highest overall GPA);
  • Alumni Senior Achievement Scholarship (Criteria:  Any departmental major, senior, minimum overall GPA of 3.00, and strong record of extra-curricular accomplishments);
  • Stephen & Carol Ward Scholarship (Criteria:  Accounting major, Sophomore/Junior/Senior, and outstanding scholastic and extra-curricular achievements); and
  • Dr. Franklin B. Krohn Memorial Scholarship (Criteria:  Junior, Business Major, outstanding extra-curricular accomplishments within the School of Business).
