SUNY Fredonia's Southwestern Center for Economic Education is part of the National Council on Economic Education's (NCEE) network of education centers providing assistance to social science school teachers of all grade levels in school districts in Southwestern New York.. The Fredonia Center, housed in the Economics Department of the newly formed School of Business, is affiliated with the New York State Council on Economic Education and the NCEE. Each year the network trains about 120,000 teachers serving 8 million students in the United States. More than 2,600 school districts, teaching about 40 percent of the nation's students, conduct comprehensive programs in economic education with assistance from the network. The goal of the Southwestern Center is to organize and conduct workshops and provide other curriculum assistance to assist social studies teachers in grades K-12 to better understand economics and to better communicate that understanding in their classrooms.
