9/29/11: Classical guitarist Roland Dyens performed at SUNY Fredonia on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 4:00 P.M. in Rosch Recital Hall. A performer, arranger and composer, Dyens is known world wide for his open-minded improvisation.

9/27/11: Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor is scheduled for November 10-13 in SUNY Fredonia’s Marvel Theater.

9/20/11: Music Industry Club has announced its plans to travel to Cleveland, OH on November 5 to visit the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame and the historic House of Blues restaurant. Contact MIC for more information!

9/20/11:  On September 15, Vicarious Visions CEO Karthik Bala led a seminar in King Concert Hall. Mr. Bala presented business strategy and how disruptive innovations can lead to success in the industry. He also visited the MUSB 320 contracts class and discussed intellectual property rights with the music industry students.

9/18/11: On September 17, Music Industry Club E-board members Noelle Panepento, Tracy Willis, and Tom Graber represented SUNY Fredonia at the Music Is Art Festival in Buffalo. MIC donated $600 to the Music Is Art Foundation raised by the club through their annual Life is Art Festival in Fredonia, NY this past April.

2011 Hillman Opera

In continuation of its annual student-featured production, The Hillman Opera has announced its selection of Otto Niccolai’s Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor for the fall 2011 season. Based on Shakespeare’s play The Merry Wives of Windsor, the comedy unfurls the efforts of two devious women in hoaxing their egotistical husbands.

Kyle Sackett, a student at Fredonia and a member of the Hillman opera, stated, “It is nice to be able to work with so many of my colleagues and to build of off each other’s talents. We are allowed the opportunity to come together and learn from each other, an experience which is a good alternative to learning strictly from our teachers.” To take the male lead, SUNY Fredonia alumnus Josh Fingerhut will be returning to the Hillman stage. “I am excited to be able to work with a professional who was so recently in our shoes,” exclaimed Sackett.

Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor will be taking place on November 10-13 in SUNY Fredonia’s Marvel Theater. Tickets are $20.00 for general admission and will be available in mid-October. Due to limited space, tickets should be purchased ahead in order to reserve a seat.
