See selected students' feedback on their internship experiences while in the Music Industry Program.

Working with PLJ's promotional staff gave me a greater perspective of how to effectively market a company. Through my experience and the connections I made, I now feel prepared for my future in the music industry.

Abbey Hunt
95.5 WPLJ - New York, NY

Abbey managed the phones for radio prize winners, professional clients and other daily callers. She also coordinated fans with celebrity meet & greets at promotional events and concerts.

In the world of media, there is always a need for licensed music. At DMP, I learned about publishing, royalties, and pitching music. I look forward to using the knowledge and connections I acquired to make myself valuable to potential music industry employers.

Alex Mikol
Downtown Music Publishing - New York, NY

Alex maintained the company's extensive song database and catalogued music for potential licensing opportunities. He tagged songs for music supervisors and helped select music for television and film.

I experienced all aspects of producing a major music festival, granting me the knowledge necessary for my upcoming career in the industry.

David Neimanis
Shimon Presents Inc. Work Exchange Team
Locations in Michigan, Ohio, and New York

As a production assistant, David coordinated behind the scenes operations of Electric Forest Music Festival, All Good Music Festival and Catskill Chill Music Festival.

I learned about customer service, sales, and the marketing behind live music events. My experience with Live Nation and the professional connections I made will hopefully award me the opportunity to work with this company once I graduate.

Jackie O'Mara
Darien Lake Performing Arts Center w/ Live Nation
Darien Center, NY

Jackie supervised ticket sales for Live Nation including reserved will call tickets, meet & greet passes, and other special admissions.

“The music industry is very demanding and there are always many tasks to attend to. I learned to multitask efficiently and collaborate with multiple departments, ensuring artist satisfaction.”

Makayla Santiago
Warner Music Group - New York, NY

At Warner, Makayla was a personal assistant, managing business & personal expenses of artists, corresponding with their stylists and handling phone calls.

It takes a lot of effort and quick problem solving to successfully manage a live event. Working with big name musicians is what initially drew me to the program, but those willing to storm the trenches will find themselves successful.

Dustin Wilson
Town Ballroom - Buffalo, NY

Dustin hosted bands, sold tickets, supervised fans before each show and created advertising invoices. He was also responsible for setting the stage at the Buffalo Outer Harbor concert series.

At 103.3, I gained an understanding of the inner-workings of radio stations and record labels. My time spent in the Music Industry Program directly related to the work I performed during my internship.

Steve Accardo
103.3 The Edge - Buffalo, NY

Steve interned at Citadel Broadcasting’s radio station, “103.3: The Edge”. He was involved with the promotions department, directly working with record labels, setting up radio broadcasts and organizing a ten-city tour for the station’s DJs.
